Despite the cancellation of the 2020 West Cork Literary Festival, we are happy to announce that our popular Editor-in-Residence sessions are being moved online. Our Editor this year is Federico Andornino, Editorial Director at Weidenfeld & Nicolson. There will also be an online Literary Agent event on Thursday 16 July with Kate Burke of the Blake Friedmann Literary Agency.

Virtual Chamber Music Festival

The international nature of the Festival gave us the opportunity to gather together some of the cancelled Festival musicians in a selection of venues around Europe and USA. Programmes were thought up that took into account the isolation of the last three months and production companies were located to film and record the performances as lockdown regulations were relaxed over the last ten days.

In retrospect it may have been tempting fate to conclude our 24th Festival with Messiaen’s extraordinary quartet that announces the End of Time. Last summer’s Bantry performance featured violinist Henning Kraggerud who never fails to astonish with his musicianship, the brilliant young cellist Laura van der Heijden mature beyond her years, the remarkable Slovenian clarinettist Mate Bekavac and a favourite Bantry pianist Alexei Grynyuk.
