2020 J G Farrell Award

The J G Farrell Fiction Award is for the best opening chapter of a novel-in-progress by a writer resident in Munster. The prize is a place on the online Novel with Paul McVeigh workshop. The deadline for entries is Friday 5 June.

COVID-19 Plans in the Making

We are glad to be able to announce that streamed and online versions of this summer’s West Cork Chamber Music Festival and the West Cork Literary Festival will replace the live versions cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Irish Government’s COVID-19 Roadmap is enabling us to come up with plans for Masters of Tradition in Bantry in August.

The first of these interviews took place on May 4 where a group interviewed Deirdre Sullivan about her book Perfectly Preventable Deaths. Feedback from both the writer and participants was extremely positive.

Festival Memories 6

The early days of last year’s Festival saw an exploration of the natural but rare pairing of Beethoven’s early Opus 18 Quartets with Mozart’s mature set that he dedicated so fulsomely to his mentor Haydn.
