The ticket price includes the daily ferry to and from Whiddy Island. This ferry departs from Bantry Pier and returns to Bantry Pier afterwards. This workshop will run from Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 July, from 9.30am to 2.30pm each day with two breaks built into the day.

Immersed in the seascape of Whiddy Island, join marine biologist and bestselling author Helen Scales to explore travel writing, with a focus on nature and place in coasts and seas.

Beginners welcome. No writing to submit or required reading beforehand. Please bring sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing because some classes will be held outdoors, weather permitting. You may also wish to bring a towel (foot dipping will be encouraged!)

Bring a notebook, pens and pencils

If you have any objects that conjure memories of the sea, please bring them along. e.g. beachcombed objects, pebbles, postcards, photographs, poems etc. During the course, there will be writing exercises and an opportunity to develop a new piece of writing.
