This Spring, the Glucksman partnered with four schools in Bantry to give young people an opportunity to reflect on how culture can contribute to climate action by raising awareness of sustainable futures through art. Each school was loaned an original artwork from the University College Cork Art Collection through the Glucksman’s pioneering Art Library initiative, a loan collection of artworks that is available to schools, community hubs and healthcare settings across Ireland.
The selected artworks by Amber Broughton, James L. Hayes, Fiona Kelly and Garret Phelan each explore ways in which we might better nurture and care for our planet. The artworks are seeds of change, planting ideas, climate action prompts and creative activities into the local schools. Using learning resources developed by the Glucksman, the students engaged with the work of art on display in their school, giving expression to their hopes and ambition for climate action in Ireland.
