Jose Catoira's talk on alternative woods in instrument making will be focused on European species of woods that have been used and still are used in instrument making that are viable for the making of violin family instruments. So discussion on the visual and acoustical properties of some of these species and how can modern makers implement them more comfortably in such a traditionally minded craft.
