Caroline Shaw leapt to fame when her Partita for 8 voices sung by her vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth won the Pulitzer Prize in 2014. Since then she seems to be everywhere. The two works in this concert are a result of her collaboration with Attacca Quartet. Limestone and Felt presents two kinds of surfaces – hard and soft. The blizzard of pizzicatos are part of
whimsical, mystical, generative world of sounds. Plan & Elevation is her reflection on her year at Dumbarton Oaks with its extensive formal garden. Emma Wernig joins the Ragazze for Mozart’s most played string quintet in his signature key of G minor, look out for the extraordinary Adagio introduction to the Finale, a moment when time almost stops.
