Some of you may have heard the Ukrainian pianist Anna Fedorova play in our filmed concerts both last year and in 2020; this is our third attempt to bring her to Bantry. Luckily Anna is based in Amsterdam away from the fighting in Ukraine but she is heavily involved in fund-raising for and otherwise aiding her compatriots. Her programme will feature all four Ballades by Chopin and The Messenger by Valentin Silvestrov, Ukraine’s best-known composer. Normally Silvestrov, who is in his eighties, lives in Kyiv, but had to be spirited out the country to escape the Russian bombardment.
