25. Coffee Concert

This concert completes Signum Quartet’s coverage of Haydn’s Op.20 set of six quartets. These six Quartets were written during Haydn’s sturm und drang period. This literary and musical movement anticipated nineteenth century Romanticism and emphasised a return to nature, the importance of individual emotions particularly when they were passionate and, if the weather became involved, it would of course be stormy. As ever the music of the great composers speak to us across the centuries.
