21. Late Great Show

This late night concert opens the Doric Quartet’s complete set of Bartók’s six quartets, which they are also playing at Aldeburgh. Bartók was famous for his extensive researches into the traditional music of the many ethnic communities of the Balkans and the wild customs of the mountain people feed into this tremendous quartet, played without a break and closing with a ferocious Magyar dance.
