Susan Cahill

Genres: Children | Fiction | Irish Writing | West Cork

Susan Cahill grew up by the sea in West Cork and now lives in the UK. Obsessed with stories from a young age, Susan decided to study them in university, although secretly she always wanted to be a novelist. Becoming an Associate Professor of Literature instead, she taught in universities until she couldn’t ignore her own stories clamouring to be told. She is the co-host, with Sinéad O’Hart, of Storyshaped, a children’s literature podcast about the stories that shape us. Her debut book The World Between The Rain was published by Everything With Words in October 2024, it won the 2025 Bookling Award and is longlisted for the 2025 Branford Boase Award which celebrates the most talented debut writers for children and their editors.
