Ruth Padel

Genres: Poetry | Workshop

Ruth Padel is a writer of unusual range, with close links to India, Greece, music and wildlife, but first and foremost an award-winning poet. She has won the UK National Poetry Competition and published twelve acclaimed poetry collections including Darwin, A Life in Poems, Beethoven Variations, and We Are All from Somewhere Else on animal and human migration. She has also published much-praised novels and non-fiction: on Greek tragedy, the influence of Greek myth on rock music, and on wild tiger conservation, as well as her much-loved 52 Ways of Looking at a Poem, on reading contemporary poetry. She is a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Literature and Zoological Society of London. Her latest poetry collection Girl was published by Chatto & Windus in November 2024.
