Reinoud Van Mechelen

Graduating in 2012 from from Dina Grossberger’s class at the Conservatoire Royal, Brussels, in 2017 Reinoud Van Mechelen won the prestigious Prix Caecilia awarded by the Union of Belgian Music  critics, as ‘Young Musician of the Year’, from then on gaining an increasingly high international artistic profile. After participating with honours in the Académie baroque européenne  d’Ambronay in 2007 under the artistic direction of Hervé Niquet, in 2011 he joined ‘Le Jardin des voix’ led by William Christie and Paul Agnew, quickly becoming a regular soloist with  Les Arts florissants, with whom he has toured the world’s leading opera and concert platforms.

He has recently recorded a Clérambault CD with his ensemble a nocte temporis, and has been touring two 18th-century ‘actes de ballet’, Pygmalion by Rameau and Zémide by Pierre Iso, in Bruges, Namur and Versailles. He will be singing the solo role of Castor in Rameau’s Castor et Pollux at the Paris Opera in January 2025 and at Geneva Opera in March 2026.
