Nada Ní Chuirrín is a sean-nós dancer, Irish traditional musician and PhD candidate on the Modern-Irish (Artistic Research) programme at Maynooth University, where she also lectured 2023-2024. She is a musician and sean-nós dancer of renown, and in 2018, Nada won Corn TG4, the senior sean-nós dancing competition at Oireachtas na Samhna. Alongside this, Nada has won All-Ireland titles for both Irish traditional music and sean-nós dancing at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. She was awarded a John and Pat Hume scholarship for her doctoral research entitled ‘Brí, Taibhléiriú agus Ceist na hInscne i dTraidisiún an Damhsa ar an Sean-nós i gConamara’/ ‘Gender, Performance and Meaning in the Sean-nós Dancing Tradition of Connemara’. She is particularly interested in style in vernacular dance, and in the intersection of Oral Theory and the embodied knowledges of dance.
