Katy Derbyshire is one of the foremost translators of contemporary German literature into English. Based in Berlin, her translations have received multiple awards, and she has brought numerous significant German-language works to English-speaking audiences. Her precise and nuanced translation work has been crucial in bridging cultural and linguistic gaps in contemporary literature. Her translation of Judith Hermann’s We’d Have Told Each Other Everything is published by Mercier Press in April 2025.

Judith Hermann is a novelist and short story writer who was born in Berlin in 1970. She has won numerous awards for her work, including the Kleist Prize and the Friedrich Hölderlin Prize. The original German-language edition of her most recent book, We’d Have Told Each Other Everything, was awarded the Wilhelm Raabe Prize in 2023. She lives and writes in Berlin.
