Kate Ellis

Cellist Kate Ellis is artistic director of Crash Ensemble, a member of Martin Hayes’ Common Ground Ensemble and has collaborated with, performed and recorded with a diverse range of musicians including Bono and the Edge, Philip Glass Ensemble, Bobby McFerrin, Rhiannon Giddens, Lisa O Neill, Glenn Hansard, The Vernon Spring and Ye Vagabonds.

Recent projects include the Irish premiere of Philip Glass’ Cello Concerto Naqoyqatsi, orchestral arrangements for Martin Hayes and the National Symphony Orchestra, the release of a major new work for solo cello by composer Ed Bennett and the creation of new music in collaboration with Sam Beste (The Vernon Spring), Multi-Traction Orchestra and with UK and US based musicians as part of Brawl Records Echolocation project.
