Praised as “a masterful guitarist” (Sing Out! Magazine) Dave Flynn is an award-winning musician from Dublin. His imaginative compositions, celebrated in the New York Times for their ‘power and grittiness‘, transcend traditions and borders. He redefined orchestral music by creating the Irish Memory Orchestra: a “formidable collective of musicians” (The Irish Times) and he was the first Composer-in-Residence at Ireland’s state guest-house Farmleigh. In his multifaceted career he has worked with leading artists across many genres. These include traditional musicians Martin Hayes, Dennis Cahill, Liz Carroll, Paddy Glackin, Tommy Peoples, Mick O’Brien, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Máirtín O’Connor; as well as Classical ensembles the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Crash Ensemble, New Juilliard Ensemble, ConTempo Quartet, Vanbrugh Quartet and New Zealand String Quartet. His guitar works are published by Mel Bay and he has performed globally from London to Japan, New Zealand to South Korea, with Culture Ireland support.
