Allyson McCabe‘s debut book, Why Sinéad O’Connor Matters, was published by the University of Texas Press in 2023 and won the 2024 ASCAP Foundation Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award. A New York-based music journalist, Allyson’s work is often heard on National Public Radio and her byline appears in publications such as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Vulture. In spring 2024, she also opened Vanishing Ink, a music, arts and culture-focused independent bookstore in Hastings on Hudson, New York. Allyson’s essay ‘Truthful Witness: “Horse on the Highway”’ appears in Nothing Compares To You: What Sinéad O’Connor Means To Us (edited by Sonya Huber and Martha Bayne) which is published by Atria/One Signal Publishers in July 2025.
