Michele Hutchison

Michele Hutchison was born in the UK and has lived in Amsterdam since 2004. A former commissioning editor in UK publishing, she translates literary fiction and nonfiction, poetry, graphic novels, and children’s books. Recent translations include novels by Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer, Esther Gerritsen and Tom Lanoye. She won the Vondel Prize for translation from Dutch to English in 2019, for her translation of Sander Kollaard’s Stadium IV (Van Oorschot) and is the translator of Marieke Lucas Rijneveld’s The Discomfort of Evening, shortlisted for the 2020 International Booker Prize. She is also co-author of the successful parenting book The Happiest Kids in the World. She has translated two of the books featured in the 2022 West Cork Literary Festival – Grand Hotel Europa by Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer and The Seaweed Collector’s Handbook by Miek Zwamborn.
