Christophe Schaeffer was born on the 11 February 1958 and played the violin from the age of eleven.
In 1974 he joined the prestigious school of bow making in Mirecourt, France and studied bow making there under Bernard Ouchard from 1974 to 1977.
From 1977 to 2020 he was the resident bow maker in the shop of Philippe Dupuy, the grandson of world famous bow maker Eugène Sartory.
He now lives and wroks in Avignon, France.
