Clare Conville

Listed by the Observer as one of “our top 50 players in the world of books”, Clare worked as an editor at Random House, before co-founding Conville & Walsh in 2000. Her clients have won or been nominated for nearly every major literary prize in the UK including the Man Booker Prize, the Bollinger Everyman Woodhouse Award, the Whitbread First Novel Award, the Commonwealth Writers’ Best First Novel Award, the Orwell Prize, the Somerset Maugham Award, the Edge Hill Short Story Prize and the Orange Prize for Fiction. Clare’s clients include Matt Haig, Rachel Joyce, PJ Lynch, Polly Samson and Lemn Sissay. Reading is her hobby as well as her profession and she loves literary and literary/commercial novels, memoir, short stories and exceptional voice-driven non-fiction. Her areas of special interest are history, nature and art and she also enjoys reading comic books. Clare is passionate about finding original voices and loves working with new writers. She looks for strong, unique perspectives and dark humour across both fiction and non-fiction.
